What this comparison shows

Two to four facilities are placed side by side, one column each. Every value is copied from the published CMS facility file, so the comparison adds no score, weighting, or opinion of its own.

CMS quality measures printed for each facility

Under the facility fields the comparison prints the CMS quality measures, each with the unit and measurement period CMS publishes for it. Pediatric measures appear only when at least one selected facility has a published value, and a facility without a published value shows the CMS reason instead of a number.

How these published values are distributed across the country

Facility counts by chain owner

CMS records a chain owner for every certified dialysis facility. The table counts active facility records by the owner value each record carries.

The CMS file carries two chain columns: a “Chain Owned” flag that reads Yes or No, and a “Chain Organization” name. Where the flag reads No, CMS publishes the owner value Independent, and the table counts those records under that published value rather than treating them as missing data.

Every row counts active facility records in the CMS facility file KidneyPass retrieved on July 29, 2026, which holds 7,490 active records in total. Owner names are printed in the capitalisation KidneyPass uses site-wide. Where that differs from the CMS spelling, the CMS spelling is printed underneath; the record counts are untouched either way.

Other (95 records) and State Owned (19 records) are collective values CMS publishes in this column rather than the name of a company; those rows are marked in the table.

A chain-level count says nothing about any individual facility. Stations, home-training availability, evening shifts, and CMS star values are published facility by facility and differ inside every chain, so no row in this table can be read as a fact about a particular center.
